The National Geographic Photograph Contest is run each year with an English Language edition of the magazine contest
and simultaneously an all Worldwide Editions contest. Entrants to the English language contest are automatically entered into
the Worldwide version too.

There are three categories in each contest (People, Places, and Nature) with only one winner per category (and three
Honorable Mentions). There were almost a quarter of a million entries worldwide.

Bill's photograph won the Nature division of the English language contest and the  Nature division in the Worldwide contest.
He was also informed that the image will be published in all editions of National Geographic "worldwide," with a full page in
color. The photograph (
above) will appear in one of the Summer 2010 issues.
